The Friday Refrain: Your Weekly New Music Digest
Hey all, well that was a break, huh? And now things are winding down in time to run out of stuff to write about so I might do my own 2017 retrospective as I can. We'll see. No promises. Anyway, it's been a crazy month of releases - U2; MIguel; the final Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings; Sia had a Christmas album; Mavis Staples; Bob Seger; Morrissey; Tim McGraw & Faith Hill; Barenaked Ladies; Angel Olsen; Taylor Swift, Langhorne Slim; Seal released a standards album; Sleigh Bells; Evanescence; and I didn't even write anything down for the 24th cuz I was out record shopping and playing at the Minnesota Children's Museum. So yeah.
But today, today we have something that truly has to have the stars align to happen - G-Eazy and Jeezy both released albums today - "When It's Dark Out" and "Pressure" respectively. Eminem returns with Revival and N.E.R.D. released No_One Ever Really Dies. And I'm really out of practice people so that's all I have because I didn't make notes on half the stuff I researched today which is odd and I feel like half my day fell into a black hole.
Goal accomplished though: Write. Something. So I have. And I'll be back next week back on the horse ready to get you through your holiday weekend with new tunes to feed your ears and soothe your hectic nerves. In the meantime, here are a couple artists I've been enjoying and you should check out too:
- Sumie, Lost in Light
- Plastic Flowers, Falling Off
- Monoswezi, A Je
- Paloma Faith, The Architect
- FITS, All Belief is Paradise
- Martyn Heyne, Electric Intervals
Yeah I feel like there's a whole mess of stuff missing from November, but I can't figure it out so it will be as it be. Anyway, this has been your faithful music listening blogger trying to jump back on the horse. Hope you have a fine weekend and Happy Listening!
